BIOGRAPHIES

Dustin Breshears, violinist

Dustin, age 12, began violin lessons at age 4 with David Mallory. By the age of 7, Dustin started studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Pre-college Division under William Barbini, and currently studies with Zhao Wei. Additionally Dustin is coached by his accompanist, Ayke Agus. Dustin has soloed with four different orchestras since the age of six. He has won numerous solo awards, including winner Parnassus-San Francisco Conservatory of Music Concerto Competition, 1st Place MTAC State VOCE Competition, 1st Place U.S. International Music Competition, 1st Place U.S. Open Music Competition, 1st Place ASTA-Sacramento Competition, 1st Place CAPMT-Sacramento Competition, 1st Place DVS-HNU Competition, and 1st Place Classical Masters Competition. Dustin is concertmaster of the SFCM Pre-College Division String Orchestra. 

Starla Breshears, cellist

Starla, age 11, began cello lessons at age 3 with Yoshie Muratani. By the age of 6 Starla started studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Pre-college Division under Jean-Michel Fonteneau. Additionally Starla is coached by her accompanist, Ayke Agus, and by cellist, Christine Walevska. Starla has soloed with six different orchestras since the age of six. She has won numerous solo competitions, including winner Parnassus-San Francisco Conservatory of Music Concerto Competition, 1st Place ASTA State Competition finals, 1st Place U.S. International Music Competition, 1st Place U.S. Open Music Competition, 1st Place CAPMT-Sacramento Competition, and 1st Place DVS-HNU Competition. Starla has participated in master classes with Amit Peled, Darrett Adkins, and Bonnie Hampton. Starla is principal cellist of the SFCM Pre-College Division String Orchestra. Starla plays a ¼ size 19th century Hill & Sons cello generously on loan by J & A Beare Ltd., London.

Valery Breshears, violinist

Valery, age 10, began violin lessons at age 2 with David Mallory. By the age of 5 Valery started studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Pre-college Division under William Barbini, and currently studies with Zhao Wei. Additionally Valery is coached by her accompanist, Ayke Agus. Valery has soloed eight times with six different orchestras since the age of six. She has won numerous solo competitions, including winner Parnassus-San Francisco Conservatory of Music Concerto Competition, Fremont Symphony Nafisa Taghioff Award, 1st Place U.S. International Music Competition, 1st Place ASTA-Sacramento Competition, 1st Place CAPMT-Sacramento Competition, 1st Place DVS-HNU Competition, and 1st Place Classical Masters Competition. Valery is principal 2nd violin of the SFCM Pre-College Division String Orchestra. Valery plays a ½ size Josef Guadagnini violin generously on loan by Kenneth Warren & Son, Ltd., Chicago.

Colin Breshears, violist

Colin, age 7, first started studying violin at age 3 with David Mallory and Ayke Agus. At age 6 he began studying viola and joined his older siblings to form the Stars Aligned quartet. As a soloist, he has won 1st Place in the Classical Masters Music Festival Competition and 1st Place in the CAPMT Sacramento Go For the Gold Competition. This past summer, Colin performed solos and with the quartet at Iguazú en Concierto international music festival in Argentina. Colin is a viola major at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Pre-college division.
